S1 E2: MTV's Nina Blackwood
Show Notes

Nina was one of the original V.J.s on MTV when it debuted August 1, 1981.  In this episode Nina takes us to the room when the rocket first launched and it wasn't in New York City.  She talks about her admiration for John Mellencamp, Live Aid and her not so fond but memorable moment during MTV's first live broadcast on Halloween night back in 1981.  Nina peels back the onion a little and reveals what it was like to be a VJ and her favorite part of the job.  These days you can hear Nina as she hosts “Absolutely80s”.  Her hit show has been distributed nationally by United Stations Radio Network since 1999.  She continues to also be heard on Sirius-XM’s “80s on 8” as well as hosting the “VJ Big 40 Countdown” with her fellow former MTV VJs Mark Goodman, Martha Quinn and Alan Hunter.  Nina is also involved with the annual voyage known as The 80's Cruise.  Find out if the ship sailed this past March.
